1. Swimwear policy

For hygiene, water quality and safety, all swimmers must wear clean clothing that is suitable and intended for use in a swimming pool.

The following are not permitted in the pool:

Underwear, including boxers, briefs, bras or similar garments

Everyday clothing, such as jeans, trousers, T-shirts or other outdoor clothing

Clothing that is dirty, unwashed or has been worn outdoors and has not been appropriately cleaned

Any clothing, footwear or other item that may present a hygiene or safety risk in the pool

A range of swimwear is permitted, including full-body swimsuits, burkinis and other specialist swimwear, provided it is clean, suitable for swimming and does not compromise the safety of the wearer or others.

Where a swimmer requires particular clothing for cultural, religious, medical or other personal reasons, pool staff will seek to accommodate this wherever possible, provided the clothing meets the hygiene and safety requirements above.

Where there is any doubt about whether particular attire is suitable for pool use, the final decision will be made by Edinburgh Sport staff based on hygiene, water quality and safety requirements.

2. Health and safety

Please follow all health and safety signage and instructions from Edinburgh Sport staff around the facility.

Phones and photography

Phones, photography and video recording are not permitted on poolside during member swim sessions.

3. Pool capacity

When the pool reaches capacity, a one-in, one-out queue will be established. Entry to the pool will then be managed by pool staff.

4. Swimming instruction

Self-appointed swim teaching is not permitted during member swim sessions. If you are interested in developing your swimming skills, lessons can be booked through our designated third-party providers below.

5. Pool access

Swimming pool access is restricted to Edinburgh Sport members and is not available through the BUCS Universal Scheme, neighbouring hotel promotions or family swim sessions.
